![]() mvp fork ONLY works with mvp and everything else breaks. polluting the namespace HOWEVER this time it is worse. MVP are doing the same thing, same file name. MVP outright stated that libav breaks their codebase.įastforward today. Now if libav was a COMPLETE drop in that would be fine. #Smplayer loop install#Libav "forked" because of politics and they used EXACTLY the same library namesįrom a distro point of view you then could not install both side by side it was one or the other. It is installed into the system with libraries called: libavcodec.so, libavdevice.so etc. Read the 11page thread for an overview from gentoos perspectiveįast forward to today and the same thing is occuring again but this time MVP is forking ffmpeg but their fork won't work with other applications but pollutes the namespace. Distro's silently chose libav over ffmpeg based upon politics. Issue was that libav was buggy, behind on security and end users started running into issues. They refused to acknowledge the existance of FFMPEG and thus used the same library names. In 2015 there was a disagreement and the team split and libav was created. The pace at which FOSS develops means things are tried to solve a problem and the best solution survives, natural selection. the darker side is politics and not just the RMS neckbeard zealots, I am talking more infighting. Libre office is great but excel is more powerful.Įven with that said Linux wins hands down, the ability to recover from everything but a corrupted disk, fully customisable etc and as a Gentoo user this is beautiful. I love the program, I have electronic simulations designed in excel, used it as a frequency response simulation, closed-loop modeller, tracker of issues. I am actually a massive MSoffice fan, clarification EXCEL. #Smplayer loop windows#Soo many to choose from and all run circles around windows equiv But for general use gimp wins especially as who buys photo. BF1942 sort of worked via WINE, so did CS:S, UT2004, Quake and quakewars were my staple until Valve took a leap (now my catalogue is quite Marge and my kids play). 2) Don’t forget to turn off Repeat mode (not the one in Playlist window), it means single track repeat mode when you play a playlist.I am a massive advocate of Linux and it has served me well since the late 90s (100% switch around 2004).ĭoes it have few games? Yes that is a fact and as an avid gamer it was a shock to not play anything much anymore. Two things I want to add: 1) Because of SMPlayer, I know there is a hack to boost performance in MPlayer, -vo gl:yuv=2:force-pbo:ati-hack (For ATI cards only). That’s the most awesome feature, it will always play a video (or audio) in a way you want. If a video’s sound level is too low or too high, I use Equalizer to adjust.įor what I have done to a video, the changes (not including panning) are memorized by SMPlayer. Some (indie videos) have introduction part, so I use A-B Section (Repeat) to play only the main part. I usually play a playlist of YouTube videos. I don’t have a resolution for this issue, and I haven’t tried to ask for one yet. ![]() There is only a slight problem, the OSD on top-left corner, likely would be cut off. ![]() You can use Alt+Arrow keys to pan the zoomed area. You won’t see any blank area if the video doesn’t contain blank border. Weeks ago, I found this Auto zoom Shift+W feature, it fills up the gap of video (and the gap of my life as well). ![]() So MPlayer + SMPlayer is the best combination in my opinion. You probably use VLC or Totem or something I have never heard, I can say 99% MPlayer is the best. There are some other frontends, such as MPlayer’s own GUI (depreciated), GNOME MPlayer, or KMPlayer. SMPlayer is my favorite frontend for MPlayer. ![]()
